JSONPath & JQ Evaluator

Query, filter, extract, and transform JSON payloads in real-time using standard JSONPath (RFC 9535) or JQ-style expressions with table and visual path views.

Mode:
Query Results 0 matches
[]
Result is not a list of objects suitable for tabular display.
    Execution Time: 0ms Copied!

    How to Use

Enter or paste your JSON data in the input container, then write a JSONPath expression (e.g. $.store.book[*].author) or JQ expression (e.g. .users[] | select(.active == true)) in the query bar. View matches in real-time as formatted JSON, an interactive data table, or a flattened path list.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is JSONPath and how does it query JSON?

JSONPath is an expression syntax for navigating and selecting data within JSON objects, similar to XPath for XML. It uses symbols like '$' for root, '.' for child properties, and '[*]' for array iteration.

What is the difference between JSONPath and JQ?

JSONPath focuses on path-based querying, selection, and slicing (RFC 9535). JQ is a full transformation language that supports functional pipes (|), mappings, custom object constructors, and conditional filters.

    Which JSONPath features are supported?

This evaluator supports root identifiers ($), dot and bracket property access, wildcards (*), recursive deep-scan descent (..), array index slices ([start:end]), filter predicates ([?(@.price < 10)]), and union indices.

How do filter expressions work in JSONPath?

Filter expressions use the syntax [?(<expression>)], where '@' refers to the current item being inspected. For example, $[?(@.status == 'active')] selects only items with an active status attribute.

Can I use JQ-style pipes and selectors?

Yes. In JQ Expression mode, you can pipe outputs through filters (e.g., .users[] | select(.role == 'Admin') | .email) and construct new JSON structures on the fly.

What view modes are available for query results?

You can toggle between Formatted JSON (syntax-highlighted code), an Interactive Table (ideal for arrays of objects), a Paths List (showing absolute selector paths for each hit), and Raw text.

How does the Interactive Table view work?

When the query result is an array of objects, the table dynamically extracts all distinct object keys as column headers and renders rows with formatted cell values for quick review.

Can I copy the matched JSON paths directly?

Yes. Switching to the 'Paths' view displays each matched element alongside its canonical JSONPath notation (e.g. $.store.book[0].price), which you can copy for code integration.

How does the evaluator handle malformed queries or JSON?

If the input JSON is invalid or if the query expression contains syntax errors, detailed error alerts display immediately with helpful hints to fix the expression.

Is my JSON query evaluated client-side?

Yes. All parsing, evaluation, filtering, and table rendering are performed 100% locally in your web browser. No data is ever sent to any remote server.
